The filter is easy to install. First, take the spare sponge off the filter after unpacking. Keep one sponge to restore its fluffiness and install the fixing buckles. Wash the filter to remove any dust before placing it in the aquarium. Connect the air pump and 4mm air tube to the filter. Squeeze the sponge until it is fully water-logged, causing it to sink to the bottom of the tank.

Please note that the air pump and air hose are not included. Due to the two sponges being squished together, you should take them apart and loosen the sponge to restore its normal shape.

This sponge filter provides a 'Precision Double Filtration' system. It consists of a circular bio cotton and a chamber base with bio-ceramic balls, delivering both mechanical and biological filtration. This makes it suitable for low-flow environments like those needed for breeding betta, guppy, shrimp, snail, and fish fry. It can also be used as a pre-filter for other filtration systems or as an auxiliary filter for large tanks.

The working principle is that the air-driven sponge filter is powered by an air pump, using the water-lifting effect generated by rising bubbles to drive water flow through the filter sponge. This effectively adsorbs waste and residual bait, filtering and purifying the water quality.

The biochemical cotton has a high-density pore structure, which can more easily catch impurities and particles in the water. The filter chamber is equipped with bio-ceramic balls that help break down waste and cultivate beneficial bacteria. A small bubble stone at the bottom can effectively increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water and generate abundant bubbles.

In terms of usage and maintenance, the filter includes two sponges, with one kept as a spare. The filter container is easy to detach, allowing you to freely replace any other filter media as needed. Simply hook the filter up to an air pump and squeeze the sponge until it is water-logged, then sink it to the bottom of the tank. The sponge should be washed approximately every 2-4 weeks using tank water to ensure the filter works properly.
