This cotton sponge filter will work best in tanks up to 10.5 gallons when used singly. If you own a larger tank, you can purchase two or more of these sponge filters and place them on different sides of the tank. Considering their small size, you can easily hide these filters behind plants and other underwater décor.

We recommend the air pump method as it is much easier for beginner aquarium keepers to set up. Once you receive our product, hook it up to an airline tubing and an air pump (not included)...and go. Once the sponge filter starts working with an air pump, the mechanism becomes noiseless and won't disturb your fish. It can be used in a "hospital tank", breeding or rearing tank, or as a tank for fish who prefer a slower current flow such as Betta or Discus.

Yes, you can use this sponge filter in conjunction with a HOB (Hang on back) filter. Your best results will be achieved by placing the sponge filter on one side and the hang-on power filter, or any other filter, on the opposite side.

It is recommended to scrub the tank and do the regular weekly water change before installing this filter.

Replace this cotton every 5 to 6 months to ensure proper filtration. You may buy a 3-pack replacement sponge pack (sold separately) along with this product.

Steps to Use: 1. First, insert the plastic tube in the airline tubing (sold separately) 2. Insert one end of the airline tubing into the sponge filter. 3. Insert the other end of the airline tubing to the air pump. Now your device is ready to work.
